We very much regret it, but the Dolomitenlauf 2022 has to be cancelled!!
The 47th Dolomitenlauf should have taken place in Obertilliach tomorrow and on Sunday. At the last minute, the OC team received a decision from the district authority of Lienz, according to which the proposed open track for amateur runners would not be permitted.
"More than 500 participants from over 20 nations have been in East Tyrol for days to take part in the Dolomitenlauf. Nothing will come of this," says organizer Franz Theurl, disappointed. Shortly before 12:00 p.m., the district authority of Lienz informed the event that the application for an open track could not be approved and that the gathering in mass sports was prohibited. For this reason, the organizer feels compelled to cancel the event without replacement. "I'm very sorry. We have done everything we can to give the registered participants a Dolomite Run experience. This also takes into account the strict Covid regulations," says Theurl.
The damage for the organizer but also for the tourism industry is enormous. The Dolomitenlauf is part of the Worldloppet association and next weekend the "Marcialonga" with 4,500 participants will be organized as a popular sports event in the form of a mass start. "It is incomprehensible and regrettable that a Covid regulation passed by the federal government does not apply equally to the entire state. Instead, each individual district authority can make its own assessments and interpretations. It should also be noted that East Tyrol is currently has a relatively low incidence number," adds the TVB chairman.
We will credit you the entry fee you have paid for next year. If you would like a refund of the entry fee for the Dolomitenlauf, please send us a short message by February 28, 2022 at the latest.
After that date we will postpone the registrations from 2022 to 2023 and inform you about this separately!
